An Engineering firm in Jordan is seeking innovative design concepts for a hub space attached to a small balcony within their office in Amman, as part of the renovation of the office.
The Competition has two tracks

The following questions and answers are relevant and useful to both tracks. However, some are specific to one of either tracks.
1. What type of office will be developed?

An Engineering Office (MEP and Architecture services) that seeks to create an Innovative and Inspiring Hub Space, One Room attached to a balcony. The area for this competition is not the whole office, only the room and balcony highlighted in the PDF file
2. Is it allowed to remove certain interior walls as part of the renovation process?

These walls are not load-bearing, and removing them is possible. However, it is not preferable unless it is crucial to the concept.
3. What does the terrace overlook?

The street view available on google maps.

4. What is meant by floor plans other than a furnished 2D plan?

Floor plans must communicate the designed space layout, including any details that best show the concept of your proposal.
5. What is the required function of the space?

The space should be designed to host multi-functions and flexible enough to be a working space, meeting area and lounge area or gathering area which we would like to call as an innovative hub area that consists of one room attached to a balcony.
6. What is the number of the people needed in the required space?
-
The average number of people present at one time to be 10. This includes employees, clients, and visitors. On very special occasions, the number may reach up to 15.
7. Can new functions be assigned to the space?

Yes, no restrictions in that part as long as it supports your design concept.
8. Is it possible to add a door in the curtain wall?

Yes, a door can be added according to the design proposal.
9. Are there any photos available for the whole space?
-
There is an on going maintenance work in the office, so there are no pictures at the moment. Consider the office as a free space. The total area of ​​the office is 138 square meters.
10. What is the name of the office mentioned in the competition?
-
It is the new branch for REC Alriyad Engineering Center
11. Is there a central HVAC System?
-
No, there is HVAC system in the whole area of the office.
12. Can the external facade of the balcony be changed?
-
No, changing the street elevation is not possible.
13. The number of working hours in the office?
-
5-8 Hours officially
However, the office remains open until 11 pm in cases of necessity
14. Is there a specific style or identity, required for the space design?
-
There is an existing contextual identity of the place. Also, The distinctive identity of the office can be derived from the visual identity (website, social media poster designs).
15. Is there a specified budget for the design?
-
There is no specific budget. However, in the final evaluation, outstanding proposals will be taken into account with distinctive reasonable cost.
